Default New Silverado EV

Saw this today while getting the Colorado serviced, $80K, got a little old Escalade look to it. Didn't get the weight but I'm thinking heavy.

Reincarnation of Avalanche as a BEV. Not interested until and unless it becomes available as at minimum a hybrid. I owned a 2002 Avalanche for 14 years.

Yes correct, Avalanche, don't know why I was thinking Escalade.

Neighbor had one of the last Avalanche trucks, can't remember what year but he loved that truck. Another friend had the first year, red of course, and he loved that till he traded in for another Avalanche.

I would buy an avalanche if they still made them.

That's a lot of plastic for 80k. Looked into them a bit before, you can't even get a moonroof that opens, just a big fixed piece of glass. Stupid, whoever signed off on that should be shot out of a cannon.

2013 was the last year; 2002 was the first year. They were a very versatile vehicle. Built on the Suburban chassis.

Silverado Electric truck weighs over 9,119 lbs
Battery weighs 3,500 lbs
Tops of the doors where you might rest an elbow are not padded
Synthetic leather called Ecotex adorns the interior
Wood trim is nowhere to be found along with suede for the headliner
If you want bi-directional charging to your home you'll need to buy the $1700 charger along with another $5600 in other equipment. Not including installation, might as well save yourself a hassle and get a Generac
Put the midgate down you have to fold the seats flat. Only problem is the large charging cable is under the rear side drivers side prevents the seats folding. Hand your passenger the cable.
Mary has you covered, she has thought of everything as she promised the public GM would sell 400,000 EV's this year and 1 Million next year.

per the “Silverado EV” honcho this was “not” designed after the Avalanche and is a “clean sheet design”….…..
…….

…..

it just coincidentally looks exactly like an Avalanche

And has the midgate, removable rear window, and bed covers. The only thing that could remotely be considered clean slate is the switch from Suburban body on frame design to unibody.

That's fine. Things keep evolving into crabs from clean slates too. And we still call them crabs. Someone involved should have been like "aw man, our electric truck turned into an avalanche. An EV Avalanche. EValanche... BRILLIANT!"

We had a 2008 Avalanche and got rid of it in 2019. It was a great vehicle and loved the mid-gate, the bed cover ( I could stand on it). The only downside was the midgate was not a split mid-gate, so if you lowered it, it basically became a two seat truck.

From what I see in the photos, the new Silverado EV had the mid-gate that splits, so at least 1 person could sit in the back.
