Default Looking for a mentor

I have a 63 that is in need of fiberglass/panel repair. I would like to do the work myself, but lack the neccessary experience. I have read the books and watched the videos, but still can't bring myself to attack it with the grinder. So, as stated in the title, I am looking for someone who is willing to share their experience and provide the guidance I need to get started. From beer to barter...

Don't know about a mentor or bartering, but Todds Auto Body works on Vettes, they might be worth a call. My $.02

Try getting in touch with some of the restoration shops to see if you can look over their shoulders. Not sure how well that would go over, but the worst that's going to happen is they'll tell you "no".

Jerry's Custom Paint in Gresham would be a good start. These guys are actually manufacturing Midyear body panels.

I don't know if you're working/retired/etc, but try taking an autobody class at a technical college near you. Lake Washington Technical College has a bunch of great classes. I took a welding class and really improved my skills. All of the instructors were real experts with all the certifications and had been welding professionally at Boeing and elsewhere, for years.
