If your a novice or have never tried to get involved there seems to be several oppurtunities to get started, they have all been touched upon but I will elaborate a little bit.
There are few clubs that don't require any prior experience before letting you out on Pacific Raceways.
1. Corvette Marque Club - run with no prior experience with an instructor.
2. Mustang Northwest - run with no prior experience... I haven't run with them for several years, they may have instructors available now.
3. NW Alfa Romeo Club - They have a few steps to get you ready for the big track (Pacific), which I would HIGHLY recommend. They have a novice skills day in Nov. and Feb. March @ Bremerton you need to attend first and the next step is they have you run a novice track day @ Bremerton.
4. BMW Puget Sound chapter (may need to be a member) - similar to Alfa above.
5. ProFormance Driving School.
6. Race School @ Mission Raceway in Vancouver BC.
I hope that helps.
Exactly what I was looking for, now I know who to sart looking at for upcoming events. Thanks!!!
This is great info for us novices.--Especially the convertible owners.
I'll have to dig up some more info on the Proformance opportunities.
I'm thinking step one is to get involved with a club.

How long of a drive is it for you to get to Tacoma? We have a pretty decent gorup of guys that meet at the Fred Meyer ~3hrs prior to race time for the BSCC events up at Bremerton Motorsports Park.
Before my Firebird was rear-ended and killed...

I have been scratching my "need for speed" itch lately by spending time at the local indoor cart track. For me that is Sycart here in Tukwila. It really helps get your mind on reading the line, driving smoothly and maintaining traction. It is amazing how a 9hp cart can induce forearm pump if you don't pay attention and tense up! Breath, relax and look ahead...
What you learn/relearn in these carts will directly benefit you in your car at very little expense.
With the snow and rain still around for the next few months perhaps we should meet at one of the cart tracks?

That'd be cool. If I recall, that's the one I drive by on 181st / West Valley Hwy not too far from Embassy Suites Hotel, Courtyard, etc.
We have tried a couple tracks in an attempt to satisfy the need for speed.....eeerrrrrr - cornering.
Grand Prix Raceway in Tacoma is a pretty decent place and you can easliy schedule private parties with 8 people. That group price gets 3 20 lap races for $40 per person - if I remember right. I am a member there and get a free race with every referral, so let me know if you wanna head to the track!!!
Traxx up in Mukilteo is also a decent establishment. The track there is not as even and the whole place is typically way more busy - but they have a bridge that you can almost get airborn off!

45 minutes or so.
I work at McChord.
Sounds interesting.
Are you a member of Classical Glass or Tacoma Corvette Club?
I figure I'll give one of those a shot.

Nope, not a member of any clubs at this time. I will probably join BSCC (Bremerton Sports Car Club) cause it will make registration cheaper for autox, which I plan to do a lot of this summer.
Last year I was making better time in my 97 Formula Firebird than many that were driving Subaru WRX, Mazda RX8, Miatas, and yes - I even beat a few vettes while I was out there. Can't wait to see what kind of damage I can do this year...
