I have lived up here for 6 years and have or should have replaced the windshield in the 4 vehicles I have owned while here. I lived in Sacramento for 24 years and replaced 1 windshield out of 8 vehicles? I am not sure what the problem is here but if drive the freeways you are going to get hit with rocks! My Z has 18,000 miles and one major rock chip and it is pitted horribly! IF you find a reasonable place to get a windshield I would consider it also!
Good Luck!
I used to be in the auto glass business, and I can tell you that good glass shops are few and far between.
I personally use Novus because they have some folks in their organization that know how to properly replace glass. Additionally you can specify OEM and get it from them. It will cost tho.
I believe that the Corvette glass is manufactured by Pilkington. DO NOT allow anyone to use Chinese glass. It is not manufactured to OEM specs and that matters in a Vette.
Use only Pilkington, PPG or glass obtained from the dealer.
