Well Bummer. Looks like another attempt is stymied by rain. And I thought it was April showers brings May flowers, not June showers...
It could change during the day today but it's looking like we'll need to pick yet another day to try this. Sure will be fun once we can finally pick a day where the weather cooperates with us.

Track opens around 4:00 and racing ends at 10:00 I believe.
Kind of playing it by ear since weather around here is not consistent. I'll know by 2:00 - 3:00 if I'm going to bother heading down. Doesn't look good at the moment.

I am loaded up and ready to roll. I will just be waiting on the forecast. I even took the day off of work to do this, so I hope it clears up.

Looks like the wet stuff is going to stay away for tonight. I'm going to be heading down later than I planned but I should be there by 6:00. Anyone else showing?

I just checked the track weather again, and it says 54 degrees, feels like 64 degrees and cloudy, but no rain. I will be heading there around 4ish. See ya there.

great to see you guys there tonight...
No rain, but I broke the race car. Only got to run her twice. Broke her good, nothing major, but something funky. Ripped the F***in hood pins out! lol
Anyway, it was fun, I WILL be doing it again really soon!

Dang, sorry I missed it last night. When I saw how wet it was yesterday morning and read the forecast, I left my helmet at home only to see it start drying out in the afternoon.
Hope all who went had a great time and would like to do it again. I still need to get my feet wet on the track.

Nice to get back out onto the track this year, nice to be there on an empty night and be able to get in as many runs as we wanted and it was nice run into and meet a couple of you as well. Look forward to seeing you guys out there again or at another Vette related get together.

Man, I knew I should have gone.. Two things were working against me - I wouldn't be able to get to the track until 7:00 - 7:30 and I don't have a helmet.. If I plan ahead, I can probably work both of those things out. I've away from drag racing for a few years and I've been itching to get my car to the track for awhile now. I've got drag radials and a Halltech and I'd like to crack an 11 before I do longtubes. Next time I am defintely up for going!

It was indeed fun to be able to do many runs with no waiting. I never did get the car out of the hole well but I did clean up 3/10ths on my last pass with a 12.3 @ 120 MPH.
It looked like the C6 Z06 was doing real well, what was your best time NW94Z?
With some nicer weather I am sure we can get a lot more people out to play next time.

Basically I learned three things. The C6Z is much harder to launch than the C5Z, the C6Z wheelhops just as bad as the C5Z, and the C6Z does not like to hotlap. My previous best (first time out) was a 12.3 @ 121 with a 2.3 60 ft. Last night I was cutting 2.0's and one 1.9 (best et run) and I was consistently running 12.1 -12.2's with a couple of 12.3's mixed in. Generally speaking for every tenth you knock off on your launch you pick up a tenth and a half in ET. Based on that I should have been running 11.7's with 2.0 60 fts. Oh well. Going to read up some more on how to launch this car and see if I missed something. Maybe coming out of the hole gently and then rolling into it after 30-40 ft will make it better. I think one of my problems is that I'm running into torque management.

Short notice, but is anyone up for going tomorrow? I'm waiting to hear back from a buddy of mine about a helmet. Provided I can source a helmet, I'll probably be there around 7pm or so.

Yeah, I went... My first time drag racing in about 4 years (first with the Z06). Long story short, the track was absolutely terrible - I couldn't hook up to save my life. My first run, which ended up being my best, was just a shakedown pass to get a feel for the track. I lazily walked it out of the hole and got just a bit wheel spin as I rolled into WOT. I smacked the limiter pretty hard in 2nd and 3rd and ended up with a 12.6 @ 115MPH with a 2.1 60'. I let the car cool down after that and sometime between my first run and my 5 subsequent runs, something happened to the track prep or lack thereof.. I tried both lanes and every combination of launch technique possible and would literally roast the tires through 1st and 2nd gear. I couldn't go WOT in 1st of 2nd without completely losing all traction. I had to get out of the gas completely 3x on one run just to stay on the track. I tried burning out, not burning out, adjusting tire pressure, etc.. There was absolutely zero hope for traction. It was a joke and I was pretty put off. On my last run I planned to really cook the Nittos to see if that would help but they ended up closing the track at 9pm (thought they were open till 10?). I shouldn't have to do a 15 second burnout just to be able to run through the gears, though...
To add insult to injury, on one run I did a pretty douche bag move and forgot to turn off the traction control before doing a burnout which resulted in stalling the car.. LOL I couldn't hear the jeers from the crowd but it did result in a pretty nasty look from the guy running the staging (whom I had gotten off on the wrong foot with...)
There's a stretch of road near my house that I play around on sometimes that I visited on my way home. I had no problem doing a semi-aggressive launch and running through the gears there - so it wasn't entirely me.. I used to drag race, recreationally, a lot a few years ago and I have never experienced a surface as terrible..
