Default Blacked out tailights

Concerning WASHINGTON state:
Is it legal to have blacked out tailights? Yes, I've seen cars with them, but is it legal?
And if you have 'em, let's see 'em.
Thanks.

WA state law says you have to have reflectors at the rear and they are visible from certain distances.

The Corvette reflectors are part of the lens so if the lens is blacked out, the reflectors will most likely not send light back out either at all or in such a reduced amount that they would not be legal.

RCW 46.37 has the rules regarding reflectors http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.37

Look at sections 060, 090, 110, and 120

Thanks C4Cruiser, I'll take a look at the RCW.

I guess as long as they are clearly visable from 1000 feet youre all good. mine are blacked out very dark but Im sure they meet the standards by law. I have been lectured however a couple times about them. but even the cop got it wrong cause he said 50 meters. which is only 150 feet. ~Guy

Back in my ricer days, I applied thin black pinstriping across my rear lights. Might sound weird but it actually looked pretty sleek. Anyways, I was forced to take them off.

I believe I have had blacked out tail lamps on every vehichle I have owned and never been bothered (knock on wood). Here is a couple of pic sof my 82 with blacked out lights and painted grills. I also run Red LED lights to make them brighter.

Don't know about WA, but OR regs are that you have to be able to see the lights from 500 ft. http://www.leg.state.or.us/ors/816.html.
I would think that WA has a similar websight. My front blackouts on c4 are legal. Haven't done the back as the "press ons" don't stick. The front ones adhere with velcro and are great.

Don't know about the legality, but I have driven behind a blacked-out C6 in daylight in the rain. Couldn't tell when the guy was braking. Not a good idea. I like the looks, but safety comes first.

No problems with the revenue collectors with the ZO6 so far. If you PM me your e-mail I will send you a couple pictures.
