To bad you are not South in the Vancouver/Portland area, as me a few guys from our club would be glad to help you out, rotors and pads are easy and MUCH cheaper than that price.
That is outrageous! Pads, rotors and labor for $1300. Where did you get that quote? A good set of Hawk pads and stock replacement rotors can be had for around $500 and do it yourself.
How many miles on the car? Can you turn the rotors or do you need new ones?
92,000 on the car. And honestly I don't know enough about cars to know whether they can be turned or not. The mechanics that rebuilt my tranny recently brought it up to me that they could be a bit warped...so I called Firestone where we have an account and was quoted a best case/worse case scenario. $1300 was the best.

As I said above, Firestone....and not being a car mechanic type person beyond lightbulbs I'd have NO clue how to do brakes on my car. Hence me wanting to buy all the stuff and pay someone who knew what they were doing to do it for hopefully cheaper than that.
I'd do it for you (brakes are about the easiest auto repair), but the thought of anything going wrong after the fact as unlikely as it may be worries me. It's your butt on the line if the brakes fail. Been doing the brakes on all my cars for the last 10 years or so. Saves a bunch of money.
I recommend that you by new pads and rotors and go to Speedware in Redmond or find some other performance shop. Its the parts that they are adding way more than 10% markup to because its and 1.5-2hr job to swap them out. Or for comparison, ask Les Schwab for a quote. They will not let you furnish the parts though.
**** you supply some beer and food, me and NW94Z will help you out. LoL I had warped rotors and I did mine it was a easy job. I even instructed a friend and he did one side I did the other. He doesnt work on cars at all and he said it was easy. Like said above attack the issue yourself they are charging way to much.

Maybe we just put together a little brake job clinic and a few of us can teach others how to do it. One you have to confidence the rest comes easy.

Last year, I replaced all 4 rotors on my C5Z06 with drilled and slotted OEM ones for $258 shipping from Gene Culley at GM Parts Warehouse (a forum supporting vendor). Bought a complete front and rear set of Hawk HPS pads from Tire Rack for $170 shipping.
Took about 1.5 hours to do the job, including bleeding the system.

Even race pads are only about $345 a set and rotors go for $200 or less.
So I found the actual quote from Firestone:
Front Pads & Labor- $216.19
Rear Pads & Labor- $241.81
Front Rotors- $288
Rear Rotors- $284.36
Brake Flush- $89.99
Man that would be a great idea...I'm seriously clueless when it comes to a lot of this unfortunately...I would love to learn more about this car!
So here is what I will do. I'll open up my house for Saturday 21st of February. I have all the tools we will need to do at least one car at a time should more than one show up. What I don't have is garage space (mines full of stored cars) or a lift that will allow me to work on all for corners at once (I have a drive on type lift) so the work will need to be done on my driveway and we can do one corner at a time or two to four on jack stands. I actually have a one person brake bleeder tool that I have never used before.
Bring your car and parts and we'll at least take care of yours. If someone else want's to stop by and get something done or help that would be great. fc_soldier sounds like he is interested in helping already.
We can take our time and go over everything in detail and you should be set.

What are your thoughts?
i, for one, would love to stop by and help/watch/learn how to do brakes. i just had mine done by the stealership and, well, um, i wish i hadn't! they're fine now, but next time i'm going to upgrade the rotors and pads, so i'd like to be able to know how to do it myself.
NW94Z, you offered to help me do my brakes before, and i didn't take you up on it. my mistake. please PM me your contact info/address and count me in as a helper to get these other forum members rolling again.

Dude that's so great! You don't know what kind of of weight this will be off my shoulders. I just paid for a tranny rebuild and the thought of putting a brake job on the c.c. as well after getting laid off was a hard thing to think about. So yes please count me in and PM me with everything I need to bring, including what kind of fee/payment I can provide you with!
Holy Smackaroids!! So glad your brothers here spoke up. With that quote you can just turn the hose on yourself because you would be "hosed"!!
So called "mechanics" like that just pisses me off with those kind of prices.
Even with new rotors, it shouldn't be close to that....in fact, potentially cheaper as there is no labor to machine them into inferior pieces of metal. WOW...
