Default ORP update

The paving of Blagg Lane
from Highway 97 to the ORP Main Gate was completed
yesterday August 20, at 5pm.

On Tuesday, August 18, myself, Bret Blackstone ORP Property
Manager and his
staff were present while Robert Barnard world renowned race
track
designer/builder/consultant and Gary Meeker NORPAC Division
Deputy Executive
Steward for SCCA conducted the official review for
certification.

The following is a direct quote from the first paragraph of
their findings:

"Following my inspection of the Oregon Raceway Park
Motorsport facility on
August 18, 2009 I am pleased to confirm that I will be
recommending to the
Sports Car Club of America, SCCA, thath the track be
certified as meeting the
standards for the staging of SCCA events on the full course
in a clockwise
direction once the following safety items that were
discussed with track
management have been completed. All comments relate to a
clockwise
direction."

The "to do" list is relatively short, straight
forward and
inexpensive. The ownership, management and staff of ORP are
committed to
completing the list in time for ICSCC to be the first group
to actually race on
this excellent track. The membership of Team Continental is
also committed to
staging the scheduled Driver's Training on October 9,
2009 and a Double Points
ICSCC Championship Race October 10 and 11, 2009.

I wonder if the path between the main gate and the paddock area is also paved...

i don't think so, I believe the plan was to "seal" it this year and pave it sometime next year.

Just got back from a track day at ORP. That course is the "Bee's Knees!" It might be the best course in the West.

The road to the track needs to be sealed and the entrance is not paved yet. Also, Palatov Motorsports is excellent value for the money (3.5 hrs track time for $200).
