Was out at SIR for the Alfa Romeo track day. As sual there were all sorts of cars, from a Ferrari 348 to an old Triumph TR6. there were several Corvettes there and I happed to notice an especially fast C6, black with a very loud - though not obnoxious exhaust. Failed to notice if it was a Z06, but it looked really fast.
I timed it on one lap using my second hand on my wrist watch, not a stop watch. By my reckoning it looked as though he was turning lap times at about 1:40, maybe even 1:35. I've never seen a street car run that quickly. Especially since the track has been reconfigured to narrow turn 9 and the entrance to the straight.
Are my eyes just bad or did my crude method of timing fool me into thinking I'd seen something I hadn't?
Nope, your eyes could be fine but the car has had some work done to it if its a C6 and tires if its a C6Z. In my car with track tires and good weather I can consistently do mid to low 1:40's depending on traffic. Last time out it rained so I was probably at mid to high 1:50's at best.
It was a modded C6 with OEM NPP mufflers, your time estimates are high when there is less traffic, the event was fully booked and busy today. Auto paddle shift also.
