Default Vette by the river

After working on a resume with Patrick this afternoon, I decided to go for a short photo op as it was nice today.

Enjoy!

Very nice Laura!! Nice backdrops at the park there. Man, what a difference a good (great) camera makes in pictures. I gotta get something better.

Shall I assume the resume was for PatricK? I really feel for him. Thanks for helping a good guy.

Thanks Greg. Its not the camera that makes a great picture, its the photographer.

Um, and no, you got it wrong, the resume is for me, Patrick is helping ME. I am in need of a better job. with more hours.

Yes, sorry, I thought the link isolated it. In my other post it's the coolpix 100.

I guess I could have pm'd instead of hijacked. And, I know yer messin' with me but you still deserve compliments!

I want one!!!

The megapixels and features alone way outdo the other one.

I just read the reviews and stats, awesome deal!

Wow....now you got me going.....I guess another expensive gift for myself for my BD can be easily justified huh??

Is 10 mega pixels enough for really sharp pics?

Hmmm....reviews I read weren't all that good for overall picture quality.....dang

The megapixels only matter if you are looking at making large pics out of them like small poster size or larger, but the 10 will do just fine for normal size prints.

As you enlarge a photo, you loose megapixels and the larger they are on the camera, the better the photo will be, but in a case of regular size pics, that is more then sufficient.

I might add that the settings you have the camera on are the ones that affect the sharpness and quality of the photos. I very rarely use auto set, I use the manual settings as I can control light situations etc..

I am way more impressed with the wide optical zoom and the other features.

If you do buy it, and arent sure on how to use all the features and want some advice, all ya gotta do is contact me and we could meet up and I can show you how to use some of them.

Also, there is a program I use to edit some of my pics that is very similar to photoshop, but its free and I basically only use it to sometimes crop and enhance some colors.

I could show you and teach you that as well..........hmmmmmmm, maybe a new career, training in basic photography.

Do you think there are other brands that might offer more bang for the buck??
I like the video capability on this one and size and features but wonder about some of the reviews. Again, for the money....not bad at all.

And don't make me brag about my High school photography accomplishments

but really is Nikon still as good as they were. What is yours again?

Are you threatening me??? I would love to hear about your accomplishments in high school.

Nikon is one of the very best as well as Canon and even though they arent as popular as they once were, Olympus has some amazing cameras as well.

Need to find some information about a Canon that has definately caught my attention, and I will get that information back to you, but I have seen, held, and played with this camera in person and was very impressed.

Actually, I really could use help in this new digital age...I really appreciate the offer...seriously.

I think this deal with be okay for awhile at costco so I'm resisting an impulse buy here. Plus, in looking, their markdown isn't all that impressive.

I'll wait for your input.....and I appreciate THAT too!

Ok, so here is the camera I am talking about and I can only see two drawbacks versus the Nikon.

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...&modelid=15658

1) The optical isnt as large, and that can affect your photos if you are wanting to take panoramic close-ups and a few other photo ops
and

2) If I remember correctly you cant put filters or different lenses on this one.

I forgot to check #2 on the Nikon, does it allow you to change lenses or use filters?

I do love the flip screen on this one though, as sometimes when the light hits the screen it fades and its hard to see.

Scooter from here on the forum has one and I was very impressed so I went to a camera shop and checked one out in person.

The nice thing about buying from Costco is that you get a two year warranty and 90 days to return it should you change your mind. On my camera, they sent me an email showing a lower price, so I took it back and made some change(don't remember but I think it was the better part of a hundred dollars), plus got an extra card.

the Nikons screen flips upward rather than sideways....have to find a price on the canon. Thanks!
