Default F55 Suspension Software Mod Request Input

For all of you with the F55 option who cannot “feel” the difference between Sport and Tour modes, I have opened a Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center (cac@chevrolet.com) Service Request Case Number: 71-852331324.

"We non-track drivers who do not drive the slalom or roller coaster
roads to work each day need a F55 software modification to smooth out the ride
over cement interstate expansion joints and pot holes."

If you want to get this issue fixed then send an Email to CAC referencing -- Service Request Case Number: 71-852331324.

Poll:
Can you “feel” the difference between F55 Sport and Tour modes of operation ?
Yes
No

Poll on General Forum page:

I think you misuderstand how the system works. Shocks, any shocks have only one major and that is to control the spring. The ride quality is primarily based on spring rate. If you want a more supple ride you have to change the springs.

If you drive both the base and the F55 on the same section of highway you will find the F55 rides better. Both have identical springs. The reason it rides better is because it controls the springs better. The shocks react quicker than standard shocks keeping the tire in contact with the road.

The reason most people don't feel a difference between tour and sport is because in a straght line the shocks don't react any differently. Sport mode enhances turning. When the yaw sensor detects a turn it increases dampening to the outside shocks allowing the car to turn flatter with less body roll.

The above explanation might not be exactly correct but it is close. Soften the shocks more than they are today and you start to lose control of the springs. Losing the control of the springs means a worse ride not a better ride.

I have a heavily modified 2003 Coupe with the F55 option. I don't have the problem of not be able to tell the difference between Tour and Sport. I feel there is a little too much of a difference between the two.

(Note: I also have ZO6 sway bars and poly bushings.)

Tour mode: Positives - I can feel it smooth out the smaller deviations in the road. Comfortable in the city. Slight body roll normal city turns. Negatives - At speeds > 70 mph the car tends to float quite a bit in a straight line with more body roll in turns.

Sport mode: Positives - Body roll and float are eliminated. Small road deviation are more noticeable so you can "feel the road" more. Negatives - medium and larger deviations on the road surface are flat-out jarring.

Jeff,
Yes, I saw that video and liked the capability to "tweek" the ride via the laptop computer.
