Default Another tint shop thread

Did a search on recommended tint shops in the area and it seems Metropolitan comes recommended and Accutint doesn't. Any other opinions out there. I'd like someone that specializes in C6 rear glass in particular. A shop that can do the work without sanding, painting or using black vinyl to handle the dot matrix would be ideal.

Need to get my back window redone. Bubbles at the top where the dot matrix is.

I am looking also. The only other option for dealing with the dox matrix, is NOT to deal with it. The shop that has done my previous cars said if I didn't want the dots sanded or vinyl that they will not install the film over the dots. Of course that would leave a "gap" and cosmetically it would look bad. That's a NO GO for me. On the C6, painting the dots is their prefered solution. On the back glass, the area with the dot matrix is so flat (horizontal) that you wouldn't see it in the rear view after it is painted and from the outside it looks like te rest of the mask around the glass. It costs about $75 more to have them paint the dots... that's the way i am going to go.

I agree that painting over the dot matrix is the best way to go. The previous owner had the windows done already and they used vinyl. It has held up fine, but if you were to get really close you can see the cut line.

Give Chris at Elite in Everett a call and see what he recommends. (425) 347-4277

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sounds like the only solution will be to paint, sand or cover with vinyl.

Walter - What route did you go with yours. I don't remember. I just know that it's dark and it always looked good. Never noticed anything out of the ordinary or wrong with your tint job.

If you are looking in the rear view mirror at the dot matrix, you're not going fast enough!

I have the black vinyl on my 98 and it looks fine.

Yup, that's what happens. Sadly, no real way to prevent that from happening (a good shop should have known that!)

Tried them all....paint is the only solution that satisfied me.

Is this for your brothers car?

I'm not getting much useful feedback in the "General" section so it's going to come down to hitting a few shops and having a look at their work and talking it over with the installers. Did find a product called "Magoops" that may solve the problem though.

Tint is for my brother's car. Almost have the whole thing done. Going to mount new rubber this week or weekend then just have to put a few more hours into the paint (front end in particular), have it tinted (need a shop for this) and then I finish with a complete clear bra wrap. Complete, nose, hood, front fenders, rockers, complete doors and rear fenders and roof. Only part I'm nor sure about is wrapping the rear fascia. Haven't figured out how I would do that yet.

I think the trick will be to find a tint shop that will use Magoops. Searching several Tint forums it seems like many tint guys don't like the product for various reasons.
