Any recommendations for a local automatic transmission shop? My kid fragged the TH350 in my rusty-but-trusty '72 C10 and I'm really just looking for a straight overhaul.
Local shop quoted me $850...which seems a bit high given entry-level aftermarket trans in that price range.
I have a fresh T-400 short shaft...been sitting in the corner, converter also, has like 1500 miles and pulled and stashed for a proj....saw it run hit all gears clean barked 2nd gear under hard throttle...if you feal like doing a driveline and a little crossmember work...$425,,,it's what I am in it.
For another good trans shop, I have used Mike's Transmission in Issaquah. Always has been fair and good work. I have had well over a dozen done by them in the last 20 years.
Help me out here...why do I think that $850 out and in, is not a bad price? I paid more than that 20-25 years ago.
I'm not paying for R&R - just the overhaul.
Labor costs being what they are that may be what it costs. I was comparing the price of a bench, stock overhaul to to a rebuilt, upgraded unit from B&M/TCI with no exchange.
