So just as a follow up I wanted to let you all know that I ended going with the Nitto Invo’s. Did the whole package through Discount Tire. Once again they handled my car with the all the care that I asked for.

Got home earlier on Friday than expected and the tires were in so rather than wait for Saturday morning and then have to rush getting ready for the GTG I had them put on Friday afternoon. Have put 100 miles on them this weekend and I am happy so far.

They are so much quieter than the GY run flats.
They seem to be very schticky …. would really like to put 500 miles on them before I really wip it around.

Oh yea, they don’t smell like sh#t either …. Smells just like new tires

I may go the Invo route next time Mark. Especially if they are better in the rain than the 555's. I may ping you down the road to see what next fall and rain brings, and how they are wearing.

I am on my second set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP Plus. They are great tires for the PNW as I drive my car in all conditions except for snow/ice unless i get caught in it. My next set will also be Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP Plus.

I went with strictly stock coupe (non Z06) C5 tires front & rear.

I actually run GSD3s on the 95 (275x40x17 on all 4 corners) and I like them but they don't make the 275x40 in an 18" for the rear so I didn't consider them for the C5.

yeah, the 275/40/18 seems to be a bastard child. not all tire manufacturers make that size.

i'm also considering Nitto Invo's and Hankook V12's. really like the looks of the V12's. good ratings too. tough decision. i'll probably run what i have (Michelin Pilot Sports) through the summer and put new tires on in the fall.

I wasn't expecting to be in the market for new tires, but I "found" a roofing nail on the way home from the gtg. I was thinking of just getting a flat repair, but found out that Goodyear will offer a credit on the tires, which have 6/32" tread left.

I've put the Comp Gray wheels back on with OEM tires having 4/32" tread left. I was planning on getting new tires later in the year, but with this development I'm considering on doing it now. I would take the 4/32 rears off the gray wheels and put them on the chromies, which I would use for the track.

The Michelin Super Sport tires look terrific and the price (w/the credit) is quite affordable. The only downside, if one can call it that, is they will not be run-flats. But Michelin does offer a 24/7 free towing service for 3 years.

What do you all think? Should I just go for it?

Well, I pulled the trigger on the Michelin SS tires. They will be here at the end of the week or early next week.

Everything I have read about them says they are superb. If true, I'll be looking forward to better traction going forward, stopping and laterally.

For street use, I replaced brand new OEM tires (Eagle F1 G1) with Michelin Pilot Super Sports, and the traction has very noticeably improved. The lateral movements during launches or going full on throttle are now gone. I am so far very pleased.

Good discussion, thanks folks!

I have to do new all-around, and I'm still kinda undecided. Every year I plan to auto-x heavily, and every year something gets in the way...so I may just Michelin all around again and call it good...

The best street performance tire I have ever used (and currently) is the PS2. My comparison is the Toyo RA1, GY DS3, GY SC, and PS. All have been used as daily drivers and on the track. I am very impressed with the PS2. None of them are cheap but that was not part of the decision. I wanted to know for myself the overall benefits compared to how I use my car.
