Hello Everyone!

I (BillBarkerville) along with a couple of folks - to be named later - are Regional Events Coordinators for the Pacific Northwest.

We are looking for your suggestions on the type of activities that you are interested in participating in along with any places where you might want to get together. It doesn't have to be very complicated. This could be as simple as a Saturday or Sunday rendezvous for coffee and/or ice cream. Who doesn't like ice cream?

As a motivation for helping us with this, the Corvette Forum will be GIVING AWAY a set of Fikse Custom Wheels!

Each Forum user who posts in THIS thread will receive a chance to win a custom set of wheels in their choice of style, finish and size! Multiple suggestions by the same Forum user will only count as ONE for the purposes of our random drawing for the wheels. So, in order to keep the thread readable, please add all of your suggestions in ONE posting. The contest ends at 5:00 p.m. (Pacific time) on November 9, 2012.

WE WANT YOUR SUGGESTIONS FOR ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS where Corvette owners should attend!! After the contest, then you could begin your own tread asking folks to join you at a date, time and location. Since we live in the unpredictable Northwest, then some gatherings will be on VERY SHORT NOTICE -- depending upon what the weatherman says!! But that's okay!!!

You can immediately post your suggestion(s) as a reply to this thread, and THAT will enter you into the contest.

Please refer to the following link for the FINE PRINT!
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/paci...gal-stuff.html

Looking forward to see your suggestions! And Good Luck!

Isn't the Seattle Car Show coming up?

A few years ago, I attended that show and had my Honda stolen. Good times.

Nice write up Bill!

I second the XXX meet, didn't know about the place when the last Vette meet happened there, now I'm only a couple miles from it. And the Wife even likes it!

And PNW folks, you just went from 0 to 3 Event Coordinators. Let the fun begin!

I would be interested in something in the Everett/Lynwood area, maybe the new Dick's Drive In in Lynwood, once the weather turns nice again.... so, that two day window in August? =)

I'd like to take advantage of the beauty of the great Pacific Northwest and suggest two events.
  • Start of summer gathering at the ocean
  • End of summer gathering in the mountains

Make these an annual event open to all Corvettes residing in the PNW.

A nice place to meet is the Alki Beach Boat ramp in West Seattle, great view across the sound of Downtown and tons of parking.

End of Summer, drive out to Leavenworth is a great way to spend a day.

Also in agreement on the XXX event. We missed it this year, but have traveled north several times for this show - good times!

Something that both Washington & Oregon residents could enjoy in the Gorge area - wine tour? lunch at Mt. Hood? Hood River Fruit Loop tour?

More of a national thing, but don't forget the National Corvette Caravan in 2014.

And shameless self promotion, "Corvettes in the Park" in Cottage Grove, OR hosted by Cascade Corvette Club.

Default Rally?

I'd LOVE to see a rally organized. Like the old sports car rallies in the 50s and 60s, where you have a course and are timed to several stops. The winning car will have the time closest to what is "ideal", meaning the time the course should take going the legal speeds and not missing any turns. These were a blast, did not involve 'racing' and you are competing against the clock - not others. Where to have this? There are many places in the PacNW that have beautiful scenery, nice twisty roads and could accommodate the crowds I hope would participate. It would be a weekend gathering and accommodations could be arranged at one or more motels. I would ban GPS units - that would be cheating. Half the fun is the navigator trying to follow the directions.

Thinking of Hell's canyon area, around Leavenworth, up in Colville, or maybe down in Long Beach. Anywhere you can find roads that are not packed, nice scenery and where it would be nice to spend a day or two.

Let's see. A nice long, boring drive would be through the fields in Eastern Washington where they filmed the movie Toys (Robin Williams).

One day, we could meet up with the Oregon guys and take a drive out to Astoria, or just head down to Portland for a meet and greet.

Another great trip that some of us took this past summer was a drive over the North Cascades Highwy to Winthrop. Really spectacular. Had roughly 15 C6's attend.

Default Vette Fest 2013 in Boise Idaho

How about showing up as a sponsor/vendor at the 2013 Vette Fest in Boise, Idaho? You could show your wheels at the car show, in action during the autocross and drag race, and again during the awards banquet.

Typically over 100 Corvettes attend.

Why hold everything around the Seattle area, there are many other Vettes all over the state. We do like to drive them and travel but lets make it central for everyone to attend. I would say a statewide meet at Leavenworth would be really COOL! Spend the day there, lined up on the main street!

I was part of a group that drove from Seattle over Highway 2 to Wenatchee in August. Spent 4 days there. Then came back over Blewitt and I-90. (Left a lot of my money in Leavenworth and Cashmere.)

Also have attended the "hunters" annual breakfast feed just outside of Cle Elum in the second week of September.

I like two ideas:

1. A gathering at the new Dick's drive-in. (Thanks for suggesting)

2. And how about a 1/13/13 party?!!!?!?!??!

You all know what THAT date is, don't ya??

Where could we host it and watch the unveiling?

Pendleton Or. has a parade the saturday before the famous Pendleton Round up that would be great rolling car show. There are a lot of actvities for everyone to enjoy after the parade and all of the following week.

I think a Washington / Oregon meetup would be great. Corvettes are meant to be driven, so a planned 2-3 hour drive to meet in a central location (somewhere in southern or central WA?), followed by a lunch would be great.

I've attended a couple of events down in the Portaland area, and as usual for Vette owners, they're a great bunch of guys (and gals). It would be great if the Corvette Forum assisted in bringing owners from different areas together!

The geography of the Pacific Northwest obviously should not limit the region to have just one event to serve the entire region. We likely need a number of drive-in events in various states.

Our Anchorage Corvette Association is very social and something could considered to attract other Alaskan Corvette owners to join in the fun via Corvette Forum. Or possibly Team ZR-1 Motorsports Alaska could be the focal point of a Corvette Forum event.

It would be a stretch to expect participation from WA, OR, ID & HI Corvette owners, unless you are flying in. Though we have had an occational visitor from the Lower 48, even a crusie ship with a group of Corvette owners, and of course many of us Alaskans love to visit HI. BTW, I bought one of my Vettes in Mauli and had it shipped to Alaska.
