Today's annual rivalry game between the Cougs and the Huskies was one of most poorly played, penalty-ridden, badly coached debacles in College Football history. I think there were more yards gained and lost over penalties than those in actual play. I've seen Rugby matches that were less brutal.
I enjoyed every second. It was sure exciting to watch. A well-deserved "WOOF!" to the Cougs who IMHO deserved to win this time. Well, maybe....
It was fun.... First time I've actually watched the entire game.

And yet, even with the ugly loss, I'll be spending a week in Vegas at a bowl game (or wherever) while the Cougs are still in Pullman. In December. With one conference win. I can live with that every four or five years

Most consider the Apple Cup the state of Washington's bowl game, so the Coug's will be sitting fat and happy not only in December, but all year long. They're already bowl winners.
Personally, I would have taken an Apple Cup win over a no name, 4th tier bowl game. I live in WA. My dawgs couged it. WE certainly didn't do ourselves any favors with in state recruiting.

If you're right, WSU is the only 3-9 "bowl winner" in all the history of football. Generally, only the cougs ever consider the Apple Cup as a bowl game, and then only on the rare occassion when they win. As for recruiting, I don't recall ever hearing a high school senior who had real offers from both schools ever choose one over the other because of the game.
The Las Vegas bowl may not be top tier, but the players have fun and it's a reward for their hard work and sacrifice over the last year. The team also gets an extra 15 practices, which they can really use.
