Default Running lights

???? C-5, is it so that you can not turn your running/road lights on seperately, My headlamp doors open when I try to to run the running/road lights only is this the way it goes or not/ I have a wrench guy who works at Gilchrist Chevy in SO TACOMA he says this is the way it is . Is he full of S--t? Also my CD stacker in the trunk is in malfunction mode anyone know of a shop that does work on these, dealers send them out as far as I can tell. any info on either of these questions will be appreciated. thxs Al Fig

Uh, no.

My fog lights come on with the running lights/brake lights, etc. Head lights come on when I turn them on.

I had the same issue with my old Ford Probe. It's an easy fix.

Should be a two position switch. First click turns on the fog lights and dimms the amber corner lights. The second click raises the headlights.
I run with the fog lights on all the time.

Works this way on both my 95 and 04

Interestingly, my C6 Aero Lightweight (one of a mere 42) requires only a counterclockwise turn of the headlight switch to turn off the DRLs.

AS for the fog lights, I don't have a clue. I grew so weary of seeing every other BMW and Porsche running around with their fog lights ablaze during the summer months, the very idea of doing that turned me off.

On the other hand, I quit turning off my DRLs and just drive around with them on. They're amber anyway. As a motorcyclist, I kind of dislike the VW/Toyota/ earlier GM idea of driving around with headlights on. Sorta makes my small bike kinda' disappear in traffic.

What was this thread about anyway?

I don't think so.

Wait...yeah...

I don't recall it ever working independently.

The fog light switch will turn the fogs on IF and ONLY IF the parking or headlights are also on. It seems to remember what position it was last in, also - if you turn on the fog lights and your headlights are on, and then turn off the headlights, the fogs go out. Turn the headlights back on, and the fogs come on.

I agrre with your explanation, mine do the same thing , so I surmise they will not operate independently of the other lights. The damn main headlights pop up when I try to use the fog lights only. The headlamps dont light up just the doors open , I hate the looks of those lights when the doors are open it looks like a frog and or a Bugeye sprite , YIKES lol............Al Fig

If you turn your switch one click, just the parking lights will come on and the headlights will not raise. At this point you can turn the fog lights on and off with the switch that is next to the rear hatch opener.

Two clicks of your light switch will turn on your headlights and they will rise to the ocasion provided they are working correctly.
