And put the battery on a tender to keep it up if you're going be have it out for more than a couple of months. If the battery is already rather long in tooth, you may just wish to buy a new one when you get back.
Also, if you are contemplating storing it for 6 months+,add Gas stabilizer such as Stabil and then fill the gas tank, change the oil/filter so you have fresh oil in it while it is sitting, pump the tires up to max pressure (to minimize flat spotting), give it a fresh wax job and cover it while it is stored in a garage.
Then, upon start-up, pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine over in several short bursts to get oil circulating before you replace the fuse and start it up.
I'm hoping that I won't have to leave it for more than a month.

If you're only going to have it stored for a month, all you should need to do is pull the battery and get it on a tender. I store mine for ~ 4 months, so a bit more is required.
