As some of you know, I used to own an automobilia store, specializing in books and publications on automotive subjects as well as importing exact-scale miniature cars, mostly in the 1:43-scale.
One of the most popular and difficult books to find - since it was already out of print - was Mark Donohue's story, The Unfair Advantage. It was a book I wanted to add to my own library, but became very expensive once out of print. I was only just recently able to afford it.
If you know of Mark Donohue, you may know of his association with Roger Penske and victories in so many events, from the USRRC to Can Am, Trans-Am (those beautiful dark blue Camaros) and into Formula One, where he met his untimely death.
I simply wanted to let you know that this famous book has been republished (and updated a bit) in softbound and is available from Amazon and others for a very modest price.
Just thought I'd mention it. It is a very fascinating story, full of Mark's own words and will take you through his early Corvette days in College to the awesome Chevy Powered Lolas and McLaren's in Can Am and on to Indy and F1.

Not being a race aficionado, or really know the history, I must say that since I got this book I have barely put it down. It's a fascinating story and offers a window in to the early development of racing in the 60's and what they had to do to improve the cars. Thanks Phil for the recommendation. Great book!

You are very welcome, Keith. It is a pretty good story, isn't it? i'm nearly halfway through my own copy. I wasn't aware of all the politics and rules that entered into this whole arena. Nor was I aware that Mark Donohue just didn't win "out of the box" with the Camaros. It was interesting to see that our local deler, Alan Green in Burien helped the team out.
The co-author of this book also wrote a book regarding Chevrolet's racing efforts in spite of the ban on such activities. Chevrolet Racing, I believe it's called.
