It's been a very long time since I've done this but early on when I joined to Corvette community I used to open my place up to help people out with installs or maintenance issues on their cars. It was as much to help people that weren't able or comfortable working on their cars as it was to meet people in the community. Afterwards we would go out as a group and grab some lunch someplace. We still see and do things with many of the people we met on those first few clinics.
Recently I've noticed a few people on here looking for advice or requests to have work done on their cars. Well if your interested here is an opportunity. I'm looking to start with smaller jobs here so we can get more people taken care off. If others want to come out to help or assist we could knock out more work and help more people. I use the term work loosely. The idea here is to have fun helping others.
If your interested reply to this thread and I'll start a list. I figure we could do have a dozen different jobs and be finished in a reasonable amount of time. If there is enough interest I'll try and set a date that works for most people and we go from there.
Sounds like fun Joe. I do need that little exhaust plate installed and can't reach the location without some ramps or a lift. Great idea.
Maybe I can bring along an old Unlimited Hydroplane and I can show the group how to restore it. Given the current project it shouldn't take more than, oh, say 4 years.
Joe, you and Julie are always so generous with your time, skills and facilities....is there anything we can do for you? I assume your head rework is deferred to Fall? Is there anything the Corvette community can do to help with your project? :
Would it be feasible to get my calipers painted in the amount of time available?
Hi Joe,
If your going with paint as an option then to do it right we would not have enough time. I've done three sets of calipers with paint and it's best to remove them and layer multiple coats of paint followed by a clear top coat. This is one of those jobs you do not want to rush.

Thanks Walter. I've got everything on my end covered at present which is why I have some time to spare on a weekend. Besides with the terrible run of weather lately I'm getting cabin fever and need any excuse to get outside. We can put you on the list. Your overdue. Next weekend is already looking iffy.
I have recently discovered that my carpet on both the drivers side and passenger side get wet when I wash the 2002 Z06. The udders are clean, as far as I can tell. Is this the type of problem you would be willing to help with. As it is supposed to be a common problem maybe it would be good to show and document how to get the trim off and correct the problem.

Is this the problem where heat over time shrinks the carpet and it pulls back? I'm not sure what the fix is or how long it would take to repair but we have plenty of people offering to help so we could tackle more than one issue at a time.

I just had my 1st oil (50%) change Friday. The only thing I would like to do is detail and treat my wheels without having to take them off. Wouldn't your new lift make short work of that job? On your recommendation I bought some of that Armour All Wheel Protectant.

What? You only changed 50% of your oil? Now you want to use Armor-all on your wheels? Why not pour some in your crankcase? Why don't you tell me your favorite scent of pine tree air fresheners so I don't get all frustrated again trying to figure out what to buy for your b'day?
Then you actually want to have people watch you do all this?
You Cheap B****RD! I suppose the next thing you're going to admit is that you've been scavenging empty single malt Islay Scotch bottles from restaurant dumpsters and refilling them with Cutty Sark? I'll bet you ordered your C7 on QVC, didn't you?
Actually, that's fine with me. I can't tell the difference anyway. Well, I can with pine tree air fresheners.
Gee I'd like to come over and watch and make helpful comments.
I could contribute a few bottles of wine and perhaps some snacks for others who would like to join me in offering helpful suggestions to those who actually know what they are doing.

No, this is a problem with the sealer GM used somewhere on the upper part of the windshield area to the body and along the edge of the top. The trim on the A pillars has to be taken off along with some others parts, and I believe the old sealer has to be removed and new installed. There are quite a few threads on it.

Your issue is with the molding that holds the weather strip. It was installed with double sticky back tape and must have been removed at some point for a possible windshield replacement (How do I know)??? OR maybe it has just aged which is rare for leaks to just occur. Regardless, the tape will not reseal once the mold has been removed and then reinstalled. I bet you have found water coming from under the plastic trim piece by the dash which makes one think it was inside before the mold. Test with a water hose and just soak the outside. Get in the car from the opposite side and if there is water (you can see it depending on how bad your leak is) you have your answer.
