What's Up With PNW Corvette Sales
Muffler Bearing sent this to me the other day....
http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2018/...erm=2018-01-11
I'm sure one could read much into this, but just looking at the basic data I find it surprising why there are so many more sales of new Corvettes in the midwest and on the east coast than there are on the west coast.
What's up with that? I would have guessed the west coast, especially California, would have been near the top. At least in the top 10?
Can't be the weather, right?

Makes me think maybe I should have posted this thread in the C6 or C7 forums.
Not that big of a deal. If somehow it would have been a question on Jeopardy it would have cost me at least $100.
At least I do know who is buried in Grant's Tomb though.

At least my experience with West Coast Dealerships especially in California is that they won't budge on their price at MSRP or above MSRP. When I was considering getting a C7 a year or two ago, the ones in So Cal that I checked out wanted more than MSRP. When I told them I could get one from the east coast for way less each said fine, someone will by their car at their price.
Even last summer when I had my C6 serviced at the Chevy dealer in Bremerton the cars I saw they had were at MSRP.
The east coast dealers are more about volume and their back end money they get from Chevy so their prices are much better.

when I was looking for a C6 Grandsport -- there was nothing much available in the western states, I finally looked in the mid west and found a large selection, found my 2013 Black GS in Wisconsin and the 2012 Torch Red GS in Kansas. drove both of them out here .

A really good spot to check is Speedway Chevrolet, in Monroe. Checkout Joeknowscorvettes.com , he is the guy I bought from, and he has a rotating inventory of base lines, all the way up to GS and Z06 models, as well as C7's.
They had my dream car there this summer. Lime rock green C7 with Kalahari leather/suede 2-tone, oooooOOOo :drooling:

Suck :/ first time I drove a C6 Z06 was when I showed up for a test drive of a C5, and the guy chucks me 8 keys for different Vette's and said "go have some fun." Haha! At 27 I was having a hard time finding a dealer that would even let me test drive a C5, much less a C6Z06, and grandsport. Bought from the guy 3 days later
You should keep that place in mind though, one month his inventory is in flux, but the next he'll have 5 or 6 GS models on display. He had a sweet one that was black with silver wheels, brakes and GS stripes....ooo, was a dream car!

Send him an email. When I was looking for a Z06, I gave him my wish list and three days later he found one in Colorado. Shipped it out here and I wasn’t pressured to buy it but I did.

Pretty simple I think, the left coast loves imports and keep cars longer, Corvettes just aren't that important here.

Savvy corvette seekers go east for a better deal. I don’t think local dealers realize the impact of being able to first search the web then purchase directly for the best deal.

After listening to all the BS from the local dealers around here I purchased my 02 C5 from Maxie Price Chevrolet in Georgia. They were the number three volume seller in the US back then. I took delivery in October of 01 over 16 years ago. Some of our dealers still don't get it.

I got an "East Coast" discount when I bought my C7. I told the local sales manager about those East Coast prices and a couple of days later he called and offered me a price in line with Kerbeck's pricing that I couldn't refuse.

I think searching the west coast dealer inventories will yield a car I could live with. 17 WGG Z06.
14% off MSRP at Merle Stone Chevy in Tulare, Ca.
The drive home was great.
I found an 18 GS for my friend in Post Falls, Id.
I picked him up at his place in Portland and we made a 2 day trip out of it. Fun experience for both of us.

Because most of the NW population, at least in Seattle, are younger guys working in the tech industry. The younger generation (which, I suppose I'm part of) are known for their lack of interest in cars. Most of them can't afford these cars anyway.
Those that are into cars tend to favor less expensive imports. The software developer guys, if they do buy a car instead of just bussing/Ubering around, tend to favor expensive "status" cars like Audi's, BMW's, or Mercedes.
I'd actually go as far as to say younger people in the NW consider American cars "un-cool." I've been told by several friends who belong to the previously mentioned group of young software developers that they'd never buy an American car - when I pressed as to why, they had no solid answer.
I like it though. It makes my C6 Z06 somewhat rare

No offense meant if you are in this age group but I believe I have met a few folks with similar positions you mention.

Edit: ok, so perhaps there is some truth to that joke:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/larryalton/2016/12/22/millennials-are-struggling-to-get-jobs-heres-why-and-what-to-do-about-it/
14% unemployment rate amongst millennial vs. 4.5% unemployment rate across all age groups. But I still think the millennial lack of interest in cars is mostly independent of their inability to afford them.
