Default Corvette in a box

My friend Gary is taking on this project a 67 Convertible.
This is a fairly rare car as had a radio delete and just a three speed manual shift. Project has been sitting for some time. In University Place, Wa near Tacoma. More pictures as progress moves along.
This was a burn job back in the 90's, and worked on at Pacific Corvette. This was a one owner car. I did hear it run.

I checked on the project yesterday. Rugs are in, Seats in and looking good. Gas tank but I saw a glitch with the gas cap gasket.
Windshield is in but some more trim to put on. The dash is all assembled and putting in the light switch yesterday. All the new wiring harness is in as well and the car is drive able.
Yesterday the heater was also going together. Soon it will be time to rebuild the convertible roof. I will try and get back down to University Place and get some pictures next week.

Beautiful car and appears to be in competent hands. Will look forward to seeing i this summer, maybe.

Interesting to note the car was apparently ordered with the radio delete and a 3-speed transmission. It begs the question about whether to restore it to original spec or to add the radio and change the gear box if only for driving purposes. The combination seems odd me. I can understand the radio delete, but then why the 3-speed gearbox? Can't be many of these things around with that combination. Wonder if he Original owner had in mind to build a race car, doesn't it?

Thanks for the great photos.I'll look forward to progress reports.

He is going to put in a radio and the antenna also has been mounted but the three speed stays and also the car has manual steering.
No removable hardtop if it was offered just a very tired cloth top as the factory one went up in flames. A lot of effort and money info this one getting it back on the road.
The guy doing the work is handicapped as well so his body mobility is far from perfect. I will try and get some pix this next week as it looks good with seats and door panels.

I know people call these cars radio delete but you didn’t delete it you just didn’t order the radio option. Same with the three speed, you just didn’t order any of the three 4 speeds or the poweglide. This car looks to have been ordered with no options at all which is rare. In this case though rare does not mean valuable as 3 speed corvettes usually bring less than 4 speeds or the automatics, and the more options the better. This will be a fun car when done and with the value of C2’s, especially 67’s, this car is valuable no matter how it was built.
I think anyone ordering one of these to race would have chosen some or all of the racing options like J56 brakes, F41 suspension, an M21 or M22 trans and a high performance small or big block.
This one was ordered to save money, it’s a stripper model.

Gary said he is done and going back to the owner. Still missing stuff but its up to the owner to find that stuff. Swap meet and junk yard are not the best stuff either. Said the UPS man brought him over five grand in new stuff in the last month too! This will be the end of the report.
