My First Corvette - Intro Thread
Hey everyone, Joe here from North Portland. Some of you might know me from another NW-based forum
After spending the better part of 2015 looking for a V1 CTS-V, I finally found the perfect car in April of 2016. While it was a great car, over the next year I realized a car I've wanted for over a decade really wasn't what I was hoping it would be (4-door Corvette? ehhh). It went to a good home in May of 2017 and I've been keeping my eyes open for a clean C6 since, which I finally found this month.
Originally I was adamant about wanting an LS3 car -- it absolutely had to be a 2008 or newer. After searching daily for many months and running the numbers a hundred times over, something hit me one day: C7's are now in the high 30's! Knowing I'd like to buy one at some point in the next few years, it just didn't make sense to pay $5k-$8k more for a 2008+ car with fairly minor differences from the LS2 cars. I decided that if the right LS2 car showed up I wouldn't rule it out solely on that basis.
The following week I'm doing my normal searches of the Western US and up pops this car, a 2006 Victory Red 3LT car with a manual transmission, two owners, and only 38k on the odometer. And this car looked clean. Since I still had my reservations about the LS2's I wrote a half-assed email to the owner, who wrote back with an essay on the history of the car and himself and these high resolution photos.
I closed the deal that same day and I'm now the proud owner of my first Corvette. I have to say that, although I've never been in an LS3/GS/Z06, I couldn't be happier with my purchase
I'm a friendly guy, so if any of you see me out be sure to say hello! Looking forward to attending some events and getting to know my fellow Corvette owners.

Congrats on your new toy! If you're up to a nice drive next weekend to central Washington, bring that sweet looking C6 up to Wenatchee!

That is the second most beautiful C6 I've ever seen. I have its twin - save for my chrome wheels and a few features that make mine about 11 lbs (approx) lighter.
I believe you'll never regret the LS2 engine. I've had mine - a 2007 - since new and find it more than satisfactory. No regrets (I've made it a point never to drive an LS3, but can't imagine the few extra HP is worth the difference in price Given the age these cars are reaching in the market. I think condition is worth more than HP.)
Glad to welcome you to the Forum.

Gorgeous! Congratulations. I bought an Lemans Blue 05 coupe 2 yrs ago after wanting a Corvette for years. I also initially thought an LS3 was necessary, but after 2 yrs, I have no regrets. The car has been great; fun, reliable and surprisingly fuel efficient even.
I drive mine, it does not live in the garage. I live in SW Ptld, will wave when I see you!
