Default Portland Vintage Racing Festival

If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, I highly encourage you to come out to PIR! If you still have memories of the old, stagnant, declining Historic Races from five or so years ago, forget all that. Since the SVRA group took this event over - with corporate sponsorship from Jaguar/Rover, it has been taken to a completely new level. It's pretty much a given that you will see all kinds of exotic and cool stuff you've probably never seen before. For example, the focus this year is on historic Formula 1 cars - tell me that isn't exciting! In addition to the historic cars, the West Coast Trans-Am series returns again this year with current model Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, etc. That in itself is worth the admission!

Some teaser pics from the past:

Sure was a beautiful day for racing! We were in the bleachers at the first chicane after the main straightaway......that Orange C5 just COULD NOT make that corner....he blew threw it 3 times. Either he had a serious braking issue or a serious driver issue. Once is one thing, but repeatedly.....not sure what was going on there.

While that car has been around for awhile, I'm pretty sure it was a new (young) driver in it that weekend learning the car.
One car that definitely had the setup wrong was this (otherwise really sweet E-Type). I missed a great shot of him going through T1 on three wheels, but this was a somewhat typical and consistent approach:
