Trip from California to Canada
Canada trip coming up. I appreciate feedback from my Corvette Forum friends. Thank you in advance.
- Taking the coast up to Canada, and faster route back.
- About 400 miles a day. Have not decided on hotels
- I worry about 2 ferries I need to take. The car is a C7 with stage 1 aero lip spoiler.

The deckhands will help you. Enter and exit just like driveways at angle. Also helps if you can do this as close to high tide as possible. Ask me how I know. Enjoy.

If it helps,
The ferry in Port Angeles to Victoria is the "Coho" ferry.
The other I believe is the "Tsawwassen" ferry.
Both ferries are pretty large boats. There might be info online if you search.

When are you going? It's getting to where the weather going up 101 on the Olympic Peninsula can be iffy in terms of the rainfall amounts and a few places with heavy fog. And the water in the Straits of Juan de Fuca can sometimes be rough, but the crossing time is only 90 minutes. As mentioned, try to get on the ferry at high tide which can help with ground clearance. Same with the ferry from Vancouver Island to the city of Vancouver.
Getting back to the USA can take a lot of time depending on the day and time. The crossing from Vancouver to Blaine thru the Peace Arch can be a mess. I like to take the "truck stop" crossing at Surrey/Blaine as it can be faster and not as much traffic Once you get thru the border you get to I-5 in just a few minutes. Then there is dealing with the Seattle area traffic Try very early in the morning or early evening.
And don't forget your passports!!

If you're going to be in Port Angeles, you should give yourself a few extra hours to drive up Hurricane Ridge. It's a wonderful, twisty drive with some great views at the top.

Folks, thank you for all the replies.
OK, I wait for high tide. And will enter the ramp on angle.
Was planning to take Tsawwassen ferry. But will look at the schedule when I get there.
Planning to start driving any day now. Not in rush. Not afraid of rain or fog. OK I take the truck route coming back. Need to see a friend in SemiAhmoo on the way back.
Don't like Seattle I-5 and I-405 traffic. Took it 2-3 times before and my left knee got numb. 6 speed CTS-V , 6-speed Wrangler. C7 is manual too. Lesson learned. Will pass there over night when no traffic.
Hurricane Ridge looks more like a hiking/biking trail. I wish I could take my bike with the Vette.

An enjoyable route to drive on your way north. Watch for Roosevelt Elk as you approach Crescent City area. Think about adding in a tour through one of the side roads that takes you through the Redwood Forest.
