Default Windshield frame adhesive

Just had my windshield taken out today. Just surface rust what a releif. Question is I want to por15 the frame but getting all the adhesive of it seeming impossible. Used the 3m adhesive remover but really didnt work. o any of you think I could just put the por15 on anyway because the rusted areas have no adhesive on them. I am going to wire wheel whole frame. What are your experiences and thoughts? Here are some pics of frame. Cant seem to find the mounting hardware fot the chrome t-top molding. Checked Docs he didnt have it. Anyone know where to find it. Thanks again

Default For me

I used a heat gun, razors blades, a wire wheel , some good paint stripper and it turned out good. But man some of that adhesive was like cured rubber. It was nuts trying to get it off. I'm using POR also.

Was just looking at the AIM and it seems the windhield upper reveal molding clips go onto the t-top molding. IAfter removing widshield someone screwed them to the frame. You guys that have done windshields have any pics where they go.? Does anyone have a pic of the molding for the 77 from the parts catalog. there are 2 little slots on aech side of the windshield molding. Is this where they go or are those drains.

All of the reveal clips go into the frame, Ecklers, MiaAmerica, Dr Rebuild and Zips all have them, look for a kit including the screws.

On my 76, only the two end molding clips on each side were screwed to the frame. The center clips were holding the center and t-top molding together and the t-top molding was holding it all in place. I plan on doing the same when I get it back together. Just like the AIM spanishsilver mentioned.

I wouldn't use POR15.

Remove all the rust and apply epoxy primer.
Its adhesion to bare metal is second to none. (Including POR15 which is designed to apply over rust for its adhesion)

Sure they have adhesion promoter for applying over bare steel but epoxy primer is a superior product.

Epoxy primer can be brushed on in this application. Use 2 coats. Put the first coat on, wait overnight and then apply the second coat.
