Urethane wave....
Now, my father and I are doing a frame off resto on a '73 Stingray Coupe. Again, I used PPG Deltron and Concept...Mille Miglia Red. I've wet sanded using 1500, 2000 and this time 3000. All of the orange peel is gone and everything looks super flat. After buffing the hood, the finish is like glass and deep. But, I see little ripples in the clear, even though the surface is sanded flat.
I've read about what is called "urethane wave". I'm pretty sure this is what's going on here...every panel on the car was blocked until they were straight in prep for the paint. Can I go back and wet sand starting with 1000 and working my way up to remove the wave? I applied 3 GOOD coats of clear, so I'm sure I have plenty on the car.
Here's a few pics of my '88....I'll try to get a pic of the '73 posted...Thanks!

and here are the '73 pics....

I'd leave it. It's probably only you that notices it anyway.
If you try to color sand it out, be prepared to re base/clear when you go through.
Putting it on too heavy is what causes it.
Also the more film build you get, the more wave you see straight out of the gun/.... Lots of variables, but it can be gotten rid of with work.. It is something that is dealt with on every show car that is worh a turd
