Hood hinge repair
any way i paid a so called body man to repair my hood and glass in the metal blocks for the hinge bolts back in. he said no problem i got the hood back in a week and thought i was going to kill the guy.
he filled the holes with bondo and set the metal block on top.
he then tried to convince me that he could adjust the hood to fit the car by grinding down the metal blocks!!!!!!!
needless to say i never paid the a**hole!!!!!!!!!!!i am not by any means a body man but i decided to try it
i pryed out all of the bondo and made a bracket out of sheet metal that crossed through the middle of the metal block and riveted it to the block using the origional rivet holes in them.then i riveted that in place to the hood. i then used some plastic weld epoxy to attach them to the hood i think i could hang a small block off of the hood now! i know it sounds kind of bubba but it seem to be very very strong.then i cleaned up the areas and layed 2 layers of fiberglass matting on top of my work.
now, i need to fill the low areas with filler and sand and prime.
like i said i am not a body man but i think it is stronger then when it came from the factory and the end result will be acceptable to me it tok about 1and 1/2 days to get it dome but overall a success at least i hope it works out.
