i have been having the same decision with my 72 coupe... keep it black or repaint... I think I am going to repaint with original color.... 988 steel cities grey...
elkhart green is a cool color IMHO
i think it should be whatever color you like... who cares about if it is just original... unless you are planning to sell...
I think I've decided to repaint mine back to the original elkhart green should be a cool color nice and fresh.. One of the coolest vettes I've ever seen was grey with a black stripe on the back. Mike
I would paint it a color that gets you excited! It's your car; enjoy looking at it! Now if that's the original color then go with it; if it's something like a HOK Kandy Green that's even better!
One of the newer green pearls would look nice.
Some of them look so deep, they look like a tri-stage 'candy'. Plus you should be able to find a color in the general shade of your original using the newer type flakes that are out there
Most of the older cars use metallic, but the newer colors use pearls and otherdifferent types of flakes to get the depth out of the color.
Be sure and check out the newer Domestic and Import color chip chart.
Also keep in mind, alot of the newer colors are very transparent, so choose a sealer that is very close in color.
The darker the color, the darker the sealer!
