Default Redoing my 87

So I had a slight accident (stupidity actually, my foot slipped off the clutch and I hit the edge of the garage). Took a chunk out of the bumper and the hood. I've bought a new hood and bumper on ebay and now have a couple of questions: What is the best way to strip the paint off the hood and bumper so it's cheaper when I take it to get painted? What should I do with the inside of the hood....the inside of my hood is perfect, whereas the one that I bought looks like crap on the inside, even though the outside is better than my current hood. What should it cost to get the entire car painted? I don't want anything out of the ordinary, just the original 81 Bright Red the car came with.

Thanks for any help!

I personally would sand both the hood and the cover....Strippers are ok as are media blasters but they are generally tougher to use as a first timer; sanding somewhat conservatively works well for everyone. As for the inside of the hood you can degrease and clean it; prep it and have it painted. If we were going to put on the new parts, paint the underside of the hood and ONLY prep and paint the outside of the car we would come in somewhere around 2500-3000 for your basic red.

Just go ahead and let the bodyshop take care of the prep for you. Sometimes if you try it yourself, you could end up not saving any money at all. It may even cost you more!!!
Especially when you are messing with fiberglass.

As far as the cost for a complete job, you should go with a bc/cc type paint. Cost should run about $2500-$4000 for a good job.
red is one of the more expensive colors (along with yellow)

Cost would also include wetsanding and buffing the complete care (not spot buffing)
