How do you read CFM/PSI specifications ?

If a spray gun requires16 CFM @ 29 PSI
and the compressor says that it puts out 35 CFM @ 175 PSI

How would you calculate the number of CFMs the compressor puts out at 29 PSI ?

Maybe this will help, the bottom line is the bigger the tank the better.

That's what i had to do. There's no way that little compressor is even going to give enough volume to set the regulator where it needs to be. It's all about volume, not pressure. Here's what I d to do to get enough CFM:

Scott, Hey, we gotta do what we have to do sometimes....like, most of the time, lol. Two compressors, one hand truck, and of course...topped of with a little duck tape. Muddy BTW: did you shoot the 68?

Yep we sure do. I can't begin to imagine how much money I saved doing it myself as you did. But the best part is the experience and knowledge I gained from it. Now it's not such a big deal if I get a parking lot ding or scratch. Heck I've even painted a couple of cars for relatives. I enjoy it.

Default Compressors

That may paint half of a fender. I have an Industrial 5HP Speedair on a 60 gallon tank attached to a DeVibbiss DAD 500-Deccicant Dryer to remove moisture, dirt and oil from the air before I paint a car. The key is to control your controllables. You have to know the amount of CFM required by you paint gun when you want to pick a compressor for your paintwork.

Hi rajsid,

Have you painted your car with your compressor? I intend to paint mine with a 5 hp 5 gal compressor soon. I'm going to try at least to spray epoxy primer and urethane primer.

I want to know if you have had good results.
