Default Corvette Image

Has anyone had recent experience with Corvette Image panels? I've heard good and bad stories about both manufacturers. Corvette Image is much closer to me. I've heard of a delayed resin bubbling problem. is this an old problem that has been solved or something still seen? Any first hand testimony?

Thanks, Jim.

I think you should call them and ask about the new process.

I actually sent a front end to Anchorage about 8-10 years ago.

Default new process

What is the "new process". I haven't heard anything and have asked around a lot.

Thanks, Jim.

Wayne,
Are you referring to the resin change to Vinyl-Ester or an actual process change from RTM?

Call and ask them. Why ask "around"?

Default Why ask around...

The last time I called I didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling. I asked if the front valence came with the front clip and the lady wasn't sure but thought so. Shouldn't she know that for a $4k item? I also know from previous experience that the last person to expect an honest answer from is the guy who's got a quality issue. Only a fool would let on about any defect in manufacturing. I'm not a fiberglass expert by any means. I belong to the forum for a lot of reasons. One of those is the knowledge base. I hate to make a very expensive mistake. I've asked around about their competition also. I asked for first hand experience, not hearsay. Do you have any experience with their products?

My guess, you were dealing with an office lady. Call GM, and ask about a thingamabob on a Chevy, the lady in the office hasnt a clue. There is nothing wrong with belonging to the forum for its data base. There is tons of knowledge and experience here. The problem here is, the answers are mostly wrong. The trick is weeding out the good ones. CI has had its share of problems, Sermersheim is not immune either, he has had many problems over the years too. Both have made progress in solving those problems. I often wonder what would be said on this forum if the people here, with their unrealistic expectations, had access to original over the counter replacement parts from GM. I got news for you, there were problems with those too. Some were pure junk.

Call CI and ask for Jerry.

Default Ci

I will call and ask for Jerry. I have called CI several times before. The first time I asked for someone that could answer my questions about their products and fiberglass quality. I didn't get past the front desk. I'll ask for Jerry this time.

I agree about GM replacement parts. They aren't all perfect. They also produce a lot more items and a lot more of them. I'll let you know what I find out.

Jim.

Default CI new process.

O.K., here's what I learned. The "new" process involves hand laminating the glass, then putting it in the mold for resin injection. The previous method did not use hand lamination prior to press molding the panels. During the press molding process the fiberglass would tend to shortcut across tight creases and body lines. This would allow areas of excess resin to form. The new panels will consist of less resin and more glass in the finished product. It sounds like a much better method. That's what I understood after my conversation with Jerry yesterday. His first batch of new parts will be out in the very near future.

Jim.
