1980,s corvette
My cousin has a corvette he started stripping the paint off with a razor blade a few years ago . It has been sitting outside in the weather since. I am fairly experienced at painting metal cars , painted a few fiberglass hoods and camper tops. He has talked to me about painting this car , concerns me about the car sitting outside with fiberglass exposed. Give me your thoughts please, Thanks.

You didn't say what region you live in. Besides wicking in water, I'd be concerned about the sun's effects on the bare glass. If it were mine, I'd strip the rest of it, chemically, then see what it looks like. You'll want to repair any cracks or rot if you find any. Then prime with 2k.

Live in Atlanta GA. So once you get it out of the elements , make sure it is thoughly dry , cracks repaired. Do you guys use Bondo with glass in it ?? I understand about applying epoxy, slicksand, blocking, 2k highbuild, blocking , sealer ,color, clear. I am not familiar with repairing stress cracks in fiberglass and regular cracks ?? Any advice appreciated.

Stress cracks in the fiberglas or SMC have to be repaired first. Strip it first to make sure it's in the fiberglass and not cracked paint. You'll have to grind out the cracks and fill with Epoxy (for SMC), or fiberglass resin (for Fiberglass). I wouldnt use bondy with fiberglass in it, but I suppose you could. The right way is to use resin and hair. Good luck.
