Default 72 Sunflower Yellow progress

Ok the curtain has dropped, no more secrecy.

I think it is yellow ;-):

So shinny my camera got upset.

Only base coat at the moment

Spotless, great Job!!

Now what is that masking tape doing on the car?

A stripe maybe?? ;-)

But what kind of stripe? hahahaha, and what color?

More to follow this week. The planning is now paint the stripe and apply 4 layer of clear, sand down to a smooth surface and finish it of with clear coat. Keep you posted!!!

A wild color; it looks good. I personally like the looks of the stripes in the last photo; "Ghost stripes".

Yes, I have been thinking about it, but the masking tape will be removed once it beyond its usefulness.

Derek, thats not completely true the pictures where taken with multiple cameras/phones. The clear is only enhancing the depth of the color not changing the color itself.

Thanks Sully, me too. I think I need another year to finish it, Vette is now on a lower priority level. Saturday 2 weeks ago my daughter was born!!

Cajos,

Im almost in the same boat as you.... my 72 is almost stripped and disassembled but is still on jackstand in my garage b/c my daughter was born 9 weeks ago. I haven't done anything besides start it and let it run, flush and change the rear diff fluid, and some brake work... I am so ready to get the paint going!!!

Hope you are getting some sleep!

I really like how you incorporated the stripe on the rear end. It's got a real mean look to it.....

That looks great!

Mine will be similar, but the center stripe will not be so wide, and I will be splitting it down the middle, and the rear of the car will still be red, instead of black like the stripe.

I hope my paint turns out as good as yours!

Update on engine paint

Epoxy primer

The new color is slightly lighter then the body, I hope it will be beter with a second coating.

Second layer is coming closer to the body color

Thanks, Should be finished by now, but had a couple of setbacks. Compressor and PC - gun broke, waiting for parts BUT I am moving forwards slowly. The past 2 weeks are better, pc-gun came in, headlamps fit perfect, rear suspension is in again. Tonight I going to finalize aligning the Bellhouse. Hopefully I can put the front end in by next week so I can move the car again and hopefully put the engine back by the end of April.
