I'm painting a black '90 corvette and I'm a bit concerned with dirt in the basecoat, then clearing over top of the base. Is it a recommended practice to wet sand the base, with say 1000 grit, then just clear over this if you are concerned with dirt/debris in the paint?
P.S. I already clean the area throughly, tack everything down.... I'm just concerned with having dust under my clearcoat and not being able to do anything about it. Any advice would be appreciated.
i get one covered good then take care of any trash or spots ??? usually by hitting with 600 then put on a final coat of base. much like clear. i put down 3 coats then block with 600 then 2 final coats. makes for less peel and trash to deal with.
Is that because you are not suppose to sand the base coat in a B/C system? I.E. all of the sanding is done on the epoxy primer coat? right? thanks in advance
