Default Door gap fix question

My passenger door gap is 6/16 on top and 2/16 om bottom. should be 3/16. no play in hinges so thats not problem. frame is like new along with mounts to frame. idealy if i could lower fender it would line up perfect but i hear thats a major job .car was painted 3 years ago and dont want to mess it up moving fender so probably best way to fix is adding glass to door and repainting door. do you agree? also what can i expect to pay for this job? thanks, nutsy.

Maybe the core support is shimmed to high raising your fender??

what is the core support? fender is a little high, probably was hit. looks like under fender where it meets near windshield the fiberglass is touching so it cant be lowered.

The way you align panels on a Corvette is shim the body to the frame. SINCE you said you have new mounts to the frame, this makes me think it isn't shimmed correctly. The core support is what holds the radiator, under that support are two bolts and they may or may not have shims under them. The more shims, the more the core support is raised. Since the core support is attached to the inner fenders, it lifts the fenders slightly and can adjust your front door gaps. OR maybe the #1 mount in the engine compartment is over shimmed or the #2 mount in the kick panel?

However if its been hit, then that could be a bad repair, can't tell you without looking at it. Perhaps just the door can be adjusted by loosening up the hinge bolts, is the mid body line aligned, door and fender?

only gap that is off is the one between fender and door passenger side. top is too wide. if i shim up front as you said i dont think fender will drop because its already resting on firewall ares although it looks like it is a hair high. will door rotate up at all if i loosen hinges? also i dont want to throw back of door off,its good, maybe i can split the dirrerence a little. thanks for your help, nutsy.
