I have an Ingersoll Rand model SS5L5 and currently have a rubber
door mat under the compressor and the compressor secured to the
concrete floor with tapcons.
I have a set of compressor isolation blocks and
wonder if they should be installed under the Compressor?
I have hesitated in using them as the compressor has a metal ring
under the tank with four flanges welded to the ring. It is under
these flanges that I would have to place the blocks and then
use longer tapcons to secure the compressor. I thought this might
make the compressor less stable.
How is anyone with a similar compressor isolating it from the floor?
For anyone not familar with this style of compressor here is a link:
I have a 7.5 horse Eaton compressor with a 80gallon 1/4" thick steel ASME certified tank, so it's a heavy bastard. I used some isolation blocks from Grainger. I didn't even mount them to the concrete and it hasn't moved in 3 years. They're much softer than hockey pucks and have a lot more cushion.
I put locking casters on the original wood shipping base on my compressor. I have not needed to lash it to the wall but I can easily move it for whatever project I have. My $.02.
