Default Paint chip repair

Picked up a couple of paint chips in my Pewter 01, one of them about the size of a match head, just above the passenger door handle on the curve, right down to the white. Won't go into how they got there other than it involved the wife.

Did some searching, came up with "TouchUp 123" and "Langka".

Same price for the kits, TouchUp 123 comes with paint that they supply for your colour code.

Has anyone any experience with either one of these products? Any recommendations?

This is your chance to help save a marriage ...

Default I love Langka...

Listen if you want to touchup correctly it's an art and this product helps the learning curve tremendously.

You need some accesories with the typical Langka $40 kit..

My recommendations is an Insulin hyperdermic needle to inject the paint( first you overfill then level for rockchips) and touchup brushes(Better for the scratch element) (the newer kits come with a few buy more and keep them on hand)..

A bunch of people have different feelings as to what system works. The best however on my rock chips is to use the needle as an eyedropper of sorts and over fill the chip.

I mean literally make the paint a millimeter higher than the surrounding paint. Then begin the leveling process with the card provided after about 3 hours. This way the paint is dry enough to stick but not unbearable to work with.. The art is the pressure used to remove the paint and the amount of lanka to use..

Use about an eraser head amount of Lanka on an old cotton bedsheet (The thinner the better) and wrap the sheet around the blue card provided. Once completed making sure the bedsheet is wrapped around the card TIGHT with no wrinkles spread the Lanka with your finger tip over the sheet as to work it in..Then slowly and LIGHTLY proceed back and forth straight line motions to remove the excess paint checking after maybe 4-5 strokes..

It takes practice, but if you go slow and steady your repair will be virtually invisable.. Scratches are the same method however I find a touchup brush works better on vertical panels.. The key is patience, and persistence. I believe most people give up before they actually get the repair to their liking.. It's a skill. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips Storm, haven't used the Langka yet and I'm sure your tips will be useful!
