I painted a motorcycle fairing the other day, base white and then cleared it.
On the 2nd coat of clear a black speck ( bug ) etc. landed in it. Used a dirt pic to remove most of it. Applied 3rd coat of clear.
Wet sanded, came out barely noticeable. What other options would you guys have used to correct this problem ??
I made the mistake of applying a little base while the clear was still wet a few years ago and it wrinkled.
well if you wanted to make it totally unnoticable you can 1000 grit the whole fairing after it completey dries and spray a little more color where you sanded the bug out and throw another coat of clear on it. and then color sand all the orange peel and inperfections out and buff it. should look great after that.. Later, John.

http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...iagree.gifThis is probably the best way to deal with it, it's not that much more effort, plus paint lays down real smooth the second time. I have also gotten away with waiting until the clear dries up taking a razor blade corner and picking the infraction out, makes a lot less mess than picking it out while the clear is still wet. This would never work in a highly noticeable area and you have to deal with the mental/moral issues of trying to get away with something you know isn't right.
