72 surround install
i'm installing a surround/fenders on a project car. i've got the wiper door, inner fenders, hood and surround positioned, and the horse collar lined up well, and the header bar brackets that attach to the inner fender. everything seems ok, except the surround is about 3/16" lower than the hood about half way between the hinges and the latch. i had the same problem when i installed the one piece clip (eckler's) on my 70. on that car i cut the glass on the surround where it drops down into the rain rail and glassed it in. that turned out ok, but i'd like to avoid doing that again. i can push upward on the surround to level it with the hood, but i'm affraid that the surround will just push the inner fender down and i'll end up with the same mis-allignment.
will the outer fender support the inner fender and therefore the surround in proper position? shoud i bubba a bracket from the frame to the inner fender? do i have any other choices?
