Default body repairs

if you are doing a early vette and have a lot of repair this is what we have come up with ( vette restorers i know ) after you do repairs set the car in the sun for a few days during the afternoon covered with a black tarp. got this idea from flynams . i have not got to try the black plastic yet. the idea is to heat the car and cause gassing. it is just another way of avoiding come backs . resins swell and contract a different speeds depending on thickness. i will no longer repair as i use to. i will replace panels from now on. the bodies are made from resin and they will degrade over time. try a 54 and you will understand they were built with really cheap resins in the early years. and never use cheap 2nd line materials on fiberglass . if you cant afford quality materials you cant afford a vette . spi epoxy is all i use to surface . hope this helps.

Could work- Kind of an instant oven!
I sure wouldn't try it on a painted car! That said, I just trace coat all repairs in satin black Laquer .....Then leave in the sun for several days or more .....Another interesting theory is to do the above and occasionally hose down the repairs with cold water then allow to re-heat and "sunbake" 10 to 15 "heat cycles" The idea is expansion and contraction also helps in offgassing and shinkage.... Then final block- and SPI prime- also good (required!) to sunbake the primer a few days- I Also use Vette Bond ....by Evercoat for final shape on all repairs Great stuff
