Sorry if this is a real dumb question but here goes,
I need to replace my leaking valve cover gaskets in my 1979.
While off, I'd like to strip and repaint the valve covers as they are peeling.
What do I use to strip and what paint do you recommend? They are blue. This is not a show car (yet  )
Thanks
Steve
And I suggest using the gaskets that have the metal inside and coated with rubber. I used them and have removed them a couple times after initial installation and they still dont leak.

What is the brand on that. Not familiar with those but sound like a good idea?

I used some MOROSO units from Summit. P/N mor 93020 for SB, MOR93040 fo BB Chevy. These are rubber with steel core. Very high quality. I'm sure Mr Gasket makes them too.
