I had my car painted recently, rear quarters and the top. 3 stage paint. Shop color sanded, but left swirls. I want to go over it with my PC 7424 and Menzerna SIP. Do I need to wait? I presume no because the shop has done it with the rotary and wool pad. Just figured I'd ask the experts. I was going to seal it afterwards and stay away from wax for a couple of months. Is that also the correct course of action for me?
Thanks,

PC7424??? Menzerna SIP????? What are they? I know they must be some form of polishing tool....
Well anyway...not knowing what was used on your car for paint...manufacturer and part number of the clear...USUALLY most clears can be sanded and buffed 16-24 hours after painting...
Depending on the choice of reducer/hardener and the temperatures that the car was painted along with how heavy of a clearcoat was applied. In some cases due to teh percentage of solids in some clears..it is better to sand and polish soon after the car is painted due to the clear can become very hard to sand and remove the sand scratches.
Test a small spot. Also I would not seal the paint. I prepfer to apply a polish so it can add the oils and resins to the clear and still allow the clear to "breathe" and not get sealed up due to it being so fresh...and by fresh I mean a paint job that is less than 2 years old. Paint jobs that are under two years old can still imprint..depending on ...once again the amount of clear, basecoats and other factors. Especially if they are tri-stage paint jobs and "pounded" with clear.

PC 7424 is a DA polisher (DIY). Not very strong at all. Menzerna SIP is a polish. I don't think it was "pounded" with clear. Because when I got it back I washed it and noticed that the shop polished through the clear in 1 spot, down to the color. So they are doing it over. Thought this was one of the best shops in the area.... On the positive side, they did do what the 2 dealers in the area couldn't. They actually matched the paint. Thanks for the advice. No sealant and definately no wax.
If they broke through the clear. Then I would be cautious about polishing it to heavily. The thing you must remember is that clearcoat is only as protective as the film thickness of it that was applied. IF you get the film thickness down to far...the clear will loose its ability to protect due to not having enough of itself to repel the influences from the sun. It will end up getting hazy and milking out white and then flake off like dead skin that was sunburned. I am sure you have seen it before on other cars. But whaterver you do...keep your paint fortified with a good polish that introduces the resins and oils back into the clear to aid it while curiing. Good luck.
