Alternative for powder coating?
Getting ready to start restoring my '51 5-window 3100 Series. I have a limited budget and was wondering what a good alternative to powder coating the frame and suspension componets might be. This is not going to be a show car quality resto, just making an old friend like new again, maybe just a little bit better.

I like John Deere Blitz Black in a non-showcar, home garage type renovation. It's available in gallons, applies easily, reduces with mineral spirits and requires no primers or rust converters to look decent for several seasons. Smooth finish, even sheen and easy, no blend touch up. Not as durable as the dedicated chassis blacks perhaps, but adequate... inexpensive... available wherever Deeres are sold and you'll have it tomorrow if there's a Deere dealer in your town. AND it comes in spray cans that match the bulk material for those small parts you forgot to do initially, or which get beat up while you try and install them.

spi epoxy . less mess and a far better product. gloss can be adjusted with reducer temp . has uv protection which doesn't matter if under the truck.big plus is if you decide to paint later just scuff and recoat with epoxy before paint.
