i have a 72 that im currently taking down to bare glass ive been using citristrpi to eat through the thick coats of epoxy the pervious owner sprayed on. my question is after i get the paint and primer off what should i sand the car with to do my body work/ primer prep? 80 grit suitable or what would you suggest. while i have it down this far im going to reglass the seems.
then after i get preped for primer i was thinking of going with spi's epoxy with a coat of high build primer on top of that to block am i on the right direction. this is my first exp with glass i dont want a 10k paint job just a nice cruiser durable and clean.
The 80 grit would be fine for the body. Porchdog, who is in the profession, recommends using only the SPI epoxy as your builf because the 2K urethane primers can shrink. You can do a search to get more details. Good luck on your project.
