It seems to never end.Last year I stripped the car to fiberglass.bought a set of HVLP guns Did some minor body work.I shot it with some expoxy The whole car looked like a orange (peel).Sanded it down Reshot with some expoxy with reducer didn't look to bad Sanded to get ready for color (black) Sprayed with color color sanded and started to buff.Problem it looked milky I think there was mositure I was getting fisheyes also.I was using Omni paint poor coverage I ended going through to primer.Sanded the car again.I didnot like the Omni black it seemed to also have a brown tint to it..I let the car sit over the winter.I bought a dryer for the compressure I got some SPI black and some gray SPI expoxy primer.I was concern with my gun.it sure wasn't spraying well. I shot the gray primer with the 1.7 tip gun as a sealer coat It went down pretty flat. I end getting a new gun a sharpe FX3000
After sanding the primer and cleaning I sprayed the color. The gun worked great Problem !!!!!!!! The paint layed down flat but it looks like I was painting with sand I used some reducer to flush the gun Of course all the straining of the paint. It looks like the primer was exploding I am sanding the hood again and will only do the hood untill this problem if fixed I have a couple of ideas of why this happen.I don't except any answers just venting. I will get this down yet Thanks Vince
vince, since i can not post pics here go to the spi users forum . using an hvlp if you leave any epoxy or primer in the gun between coats the solids will collect in the nozzle . pouring thinner in it is not good enough. i use a squirt bottle to rinse the head after every coat. ever notice the 2nd or 3rd coat seems a little dry ? the solids will restrict flow .
sanded the hood cleaned and shot it Much better now It looks like I am the right path It was either to much water in lines.I recharged the dryer or dirt on a rag I used to wipe it down. Live and learn Vince
Are you using one of the filters that you place in line, on the gun itself?
no I had concerns about mositure in the hose I did some testing with a inline filter and could not see any effect. Before I use the gun I run some air through the line to get any mositure out if any
