I purchased a used top, that had no hardware, and was crazed pretty badly. I had wet sanded the top coat, which was like sanding concrete. it took many hours to get the polished coating to a dull finish.
Here is the thread I just posted that shows the beginning, and the finished product that turned out fantastic.
It can be done, but if hand sanding like I did, it takes a lot of work.
An update on the top - I used this refinished to from June until Nov of this year. The top looks just like it did when I had it cleared.
So far, I'm impressed by how it stood up to the sun, the washes, acid rain, etc over the summer months.
With my car put up for the winter months, my original top will get refinished using the same process as the spare top did. I expect nothing but excellent results once again.
