Hello,
I painted my 68 last sunday, it went good however i got a bad run and water drop spot on the drivers quarter panel, the run was in the basecoat, i want to hit those bad spots with some base and re clear the whole panel, i think thats the best way to go from what ive read, however what grit should i wetsand the panel to for the base and clear to stick good and not show a ton of scratches?
Thanks
I start with 600 and finish with 800. Depending on what color the car is you may have to fade the paint out over most of the panel to get a good match.
did you clear the panel after the base coat run?
If so
scuff the entire panel with a white scuff pad
sand your run down with a block and 600 / 800
re base it
re clear it
the color is black, the run was in the base. and i did clear the panel.
would wet sanding the whole panel with 600, leveling the run, hit with 800 wet, spot base the bad spots and clear whole panel be fine?
