This weekend, while putting the car up on some cinder blocks, I got complacent, forgot to chock the front wheels and the car rolled off of the blocks, causing the front to crash down on the blocks. This caused some damage to the passenger side 1/4 panel in front of the wheel. I am looking for options on repairing this damage. Does this repair require replacement of the entire panel or are there other options? I would appreciate any help or advice you can offer.
I deal with a lot of shops that do RV work....Almost anything fiberglass can be repaired. That being said this damage is what I would call moderate. It would need to be done by an experienced tech. Not sure on these older vehicles but most fiberglass panels are bolt on. The tech can remove the panel and should have ample access to the backside. Might be a good idea to contact a local body shop or RV repair collision center and see if they think they can repair it.
That can be repaired in place. no replacement is needed. That panel is bonded in and would have to be cut out and refiberglassed in if replaced. Fiberglass or from the looks of that car, most likely smc is easily repaired where it is. Find you a good boat repair guy that knows his stuff and he can have it fixed very easy for less than most bodyshops. I have fixed far worse on mine without changing the panel and the repair is not visible at all.
