Howdy all! I had my car under a car cover I had ordered from amazon. It claimed to be water resistant but water made its way under it. I had my car under this cover for around 2 weeks and today I took the cover off. I don't know if the cover had anything to do with this, but on the front bumper there are these white patches that seem to be under the clear coat. They are smooth and feel just like every other part of the paint. They are white and very noticeable. Does anyone know what these are caused by and if they're able to be removed?
the moisture came up from the bottom. car covers can be a disaster for paint . especially plastic . only covers i own are cotton . covers for outdoors are only for uv protection and need to breathe .
Well its been baking in the sun for about 3 months now and you were absolutely right! The patches are almost entirely gone. I'm curious now as to what causes this, Is it just water getting into the paint? Thanks for the advice, I was getting worried I'd have to repaint the bumper cover!
It is caused by moisture being trapped in/under the clear
I have seen it many times
The heat draws it out - I have personally fixed several with a heat gun on low / or in the paint booth or an infrared light
